Located in Chicago’s West Loop at 350 N. Laflin St., Pet Care Plus is a full-service pet resort and grooming spa trusted by Chicago dog owners since 1998.
Dog nail trimming is available as a standalone à-la-carte service, as part of our Bath & Brush Out or Full Grooming packages, or as a convenient add-on during a daycare or boarding stay.
Overgrown nails can cause pain, posture problems, and injury. Regular trims every 3–4 weeks are recommended by most vets — and our team makes it as stress-free as possible for your pup.

Why it matters
Most vets recommend trimming every 3–4 weeks. Overgrown nails are more than cosmetic — they cause real health and comfort problems.
Overgrown nails make dogs shift their weight and alter their gait, stressing joints and causing posture problems — especially in seniors.
Long nails catch on surfaces, split, or break — painful and prone to bleeding and infection. Regular trims prevent this entirely.
Long nails scratch hardwood, snag carpets, and can scratch skin during play. Short, smooth nails protect your home and family.
Properly trimmed nails mean more comfortable walking and running, and better traction on tile, hardwood, and wet surfaces.

“Our little guy is a puppy mill rescue and far from the easiest dog to groom — our last groomer even recommended we sedate him. The groomers at Pet Care Plus just take extra time with him. He always looks fantastic after, and they’re amazingly reasonably priced given all that they do.”— Samantha O. · Google Review

FAQ
Most vets recommend every 3–4 weeks. Dogs that walk often on hard surfaces like concrete may wear nails down more slowly. If you can hear clicking on hard floors, it’s time for a trim.
Absolutely. Our groomers are experienced with anxious, squirmy, or reluctant dogs. We take extra time, move at the dog’s pace, and use calm, patient handling. Many dogs who struggled elsewhere have done beautifully with our team.
