Intentional Care

Intentional care means every action has a reason. When we group dogs for play, we consider age, size, temperament, and energy level — not just convenience. When we groom, we observe. When we board, we monitor.

Every interaction is an opportunity to understand your animal more deeply. This isn’t extra effort — it’s our baseline. It’s also why clients come to us for their first stay and return for years.

Structured Play

Unstructured free play can look fun from the outside or the 30 seconds you see on a scheduled tour — all the running and rolling around. But for dogs, it often means overstimulation, conflict, and the kind of exhaustion that leads to anxiety rather than calm.

Our play groups are thoughtfully assembled, with staff who move through them actively — not watching from the edge. Sessions follow a rhythm of activity, rest, and re-engagement, because that’s how healthy minds and bodies develop.

The result is a dog who comes home genuinely content. Think of it as a well-paced, well-coached workout — not eight hours at full speed on the treadmill.

Our Experienced Team

Every team member is trained in animal CPR before they work with a single pet — and the training continues from there. Our staff receives ongoing education in animal behavior, breed-specific needs, senior care, and handling.

Many have been with us for years, because a good culture is worth staying for. You’ll see the same familiar faces. So will your pet. That consistency means more than most people realize until they’ve experienced it.

Since 1998

Pet Care Plus began as a dog walking and pet sitting operation. Jennifer and Chris built it from the ground up — not as investors, but as two people who believed Chicago’s pets deserved better than what was available at the time.

Almost 30 years later: same ownership, same neighborhood, same belief. We’ve seen thousands of dogs grow from puppies to seniors. We’ve updated the facility, trained the team, and refined the process — but what gets us up in the morning hasn’t changed.

We’re one of the longest-running pet care facilities under continuous ownership in Chicago. We’ve seen enough to handle nearly anything. That’s a different kind of reassurance.
