Dog Daycare in Chicago — Structured, Intentional, Enriching

The goal of daycare isn’t a tired dog. It’s a balanced one. After almost 30 years of working with dogs every day, we know exactly what the difference looks like — and it starts with how the day is designed.

Our daycare is built around structured play, not a supervised free for all. Play groups designed and staffed for different play styles. Staff are present and actively engaged, not watching from a distance. And every day follows a rhythm — engagement, rest, re-engagement — because that’s how healthy animals develop confidence and calm over time.

Daycare starts at only $44.50 per day.

A Day in the Life

•

Morning arrival: a brief temperament check-in (dogs have off-days too) and group placement review.

•

Morning session: structured group play, social interaction, supervised engagement.

•

Midday rest: quiet time, meals to your specification if needed, genuine recovery.

•

Afternoon session: continued structured play and socialization.

•

End of day: a calm wind-down before pick-up (depending on pick-up time).

Every day may look a little different for your dog, because every dog is a little different and their moods can change. Our staff adjusts in real time — that’s what trained, experienced handlers do.

One-on-one custom play session at Pet Care Plus

Custom Play

Not every dog thrives in a group setting, and we appreciate that. For dogs who prefer one-on-one time or are working through social anxiety, we offer individual care sessions — the same expertise and intention, in a quieter format. These can include walks, enrichment activities, and individual play.

Puppy socialization at Pet Care Plus

Puppy Socialization

The research is consistent: the first 16 weeks are the most critical window for socialization. Puppies who aren’t thoughtfully introduced to other animals, environments, and people during this period often develop anxiety and behavioral patterns that are difficult to change later. Our program is built with this developmental window in mind. Sessions are structured for confidence-building — gradual introductions, calm leadership, and new experiences introduced at the puppy’s pace. This is one of the most meaningful investments you can make in your dog’s life, and we approach it that way.

Dog Daycare FAQs

What are the benefits of daycare at Pet Care Plus?
Daycare offers structured social time, guided activity, and companionship during the day — balanced with genuine rest. Our days are designed around emotional balance rather than exhaustion: dogs move between supervised play, calm interaction, and a dedicated midday quiet period. For dogs who benefit from routine, gentle socialization, or simply company while you’re away, it’s a healthy, well-paced day.
How do you keep dogs safe during the day?
Through close observation and thoughtful grouping. Every new dog completes a temperament assessment before joining group play, and our trained team supervises interactions throughout the day. Dogs are grouped by size, temperament, and play style, and the facility is built for safety — secure double-gated fencing, non-slip surfaces, and clear protocols.
What is a temperament assessment, and why does it matter?
Before a dog joins a group, we introduce them to our team and a small, calm group of dogs to understand their comfort level and play style. This lets us place each dog with the right companions and keeps the whole environment settled and positive. It is one of the ways we protect the calm here.
How are dogs grouped?
By size, energy, temperament, and play style, so each dog is with compatible companions. Calmer dogs enjoy a quieter setting; more active dogs have appropriate company. Our team observes continuously and moves dogs between groups as needed.
Is there structured rest during the day?
Yes — and we consider it essential. A dedicated midday quiet period gives every dog time to rest and reset. We believe recovery is as important as activity: dogs who rest well are calmer, more confident, and easier to live with at home.
Do the dogs go outside?
Yes, throughout the day. Our facility includes generous outdoor space, and we structure the day so dogs spend meaningful time outdoors in fresh air, with shaded areas for rest and supervised play. In warmer months, as an upgrade your pet can also enjoy our in-ground saltwater pool.
How secure is the play area?
Every exterior fence is secured with locks and double gates. If a dog slips past one gate as someone enters or exits, they remain safely contained within the facility.
Do you offer toys and activities?
Yes. Dogs can choose fetch, our play equipment, or quieter independent play, and our team guides activity to suit each dog. In the warmer months, dogs also enjoy our in-ground saltwater pool and the outdoor water areas of our K-9 Oasis.
What vaccinations are required for daycare?
We require current vaccinations for rabies, the distemper combination (DHPP), and Bordetella, plus a negative fecal exam within the past six months. We also strongly recommend the canine influenza vaccine. For your convenience, we can perform fecal exams on-site while your dog is with us.
Does my dog need to be spayed or neutered?
For the comfort and safety of the group, we ask that dogs over six months of age be spayed or neutered to join group play. Unaltered dogs are welcome for one-on-one sessions.
How clean is the facility?
We deep-clean the entire facility twice daily — once during the midday quiet period and again at day’s end — using a veterinary-grade disinfectant chosen to be gentler than bleach yet more effective for animal spaces. Throughout the day, our team continually spot-cleans, mops, and power-washes, holding the space to the same standard we would keep in our own home.
Can you pick up and drop off my dog?
Yes. Our Pet Taxi can bring your dog to and from daycare, grooming, or a boarding stay, so a busy day or Chicago traffic never gets in the way of their care. Call us to arrange transportation.
